Question:
In the questions of this questioner (A.A.M.) from Jordan, she says: Your Eminence, the Shaykh! A man does not pray and he consumes riba (usury or interest). Is it permissible for the son to reside in his father's house? And is a gift from one who does not pray accepted? Or one who prays but consumes riba, if we know his condition? And if we do not know, should we ask about his condition before accepting the gift? Please guide us in this matter.
Answer:
The one who does not pray must be told that his action is wrong. Abandoning prayer is major shirk (associating partners with Allah)—may Allah protect us from it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sunan Ibn Majah 1079Sahih (Darussalam) So the matter is grave. The one who does not pray must be told that his action is wrong, advised, and directed toward good. If he reforms, well and good; otherwise, his case must be referred to the one in authority so that he is given the opportunity to repent. If he repents, well and good; otherwise, he is killed. He also deserves to be boycotted and not spoken to until he repents to Allah .
Likewise, the one who consumes riba (usury or interest) has committed a sin and deserves to be boycotted for it. However, he should be advised and directed toward good, perhaps he will abandon riba. This is the obligatory duty of his Muslim brothers, whether relatives or others, to advise him and direct him, because consuming riba is among the forbidden things. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan Ibn Majah 2277Hasan (Darussalam) And Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) says: [al-Baqarah: 275] And He, the Exalted, says: [Al-Baqarah 2:278] So if you do not do it, then declare war against Allah and His Messenger [al-Baqarah: 278-279]. So it is obligatory to be cautious.
And whoever persists in consuming riba or neglects prayer deserves to be boycotted and deserves to be disciplined until he repents to Allah Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, O Shaykh.

The covenant that distinguishes between us and them is prayer; so whoever leaves it, he has committed Kufr.
Likewise, the one who consumes riba (usury or interest) has committed a sin and deserves to be boycotted for it. the one who consumes usury, the one who pays it
But Allah has permitted trade and has forbidden interest
O you who have believed, fear Allah and give up what remains [due to you] of interest, if you should be believers.
And whoever persists in consuming riba or neglects prayer deserves to be boycotted and deserves to be disciplined until he repents to Allah Yes.
