The voluntary prayers before and after Friday prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner, in his final question, asks: "Regarding Friday prayer, please clarify for us the voluntary prayers before and after it? Where do we pray the voluntary prayer after it, and is it correct that if one prays it in the mosque it is four rak'ahs, and if one prays it at home it is two rak'ahs?"

Answer:
It is prescribed for the believer to pray whatever is easy for him before Friday prayer—two, or four, or six, or eight, or more; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not set a specific limit in this matter. Rather, he said:
Whoever takes a bath, then goes to the mosque, and prays what is decreed for himمن اغتسل، ثم أتى المسجد، فصلى ما قدر له
and he did not specify a number. In another wording:
Whoever performs ablution in his house, then goes to the mosque, and prays what is decreed for himمن توضأ في بيته، ثم أتى المسجد، وصلى ما قدر له
This indicates that one should pray whatever Allah makes easy for him: two rak'ahs, or four rak'ahs, or six rak'ahs, or eight rak'ahs, or more than that, offering the closing salam after every two, based on his statement (peace and blessings be upon him):
Prayer by night and day should consist of pairs of rak'ahs.
Sunan Abi Dawud 1295Sahih (Al-Albani)
This is the most preferable; one prays what Allah has decreed for him.
As for after the prayer, the Sunnah is four rak'ahs, whether in the house or in the mosque; based on his statement (peace and blessings be upon him):
If anyone of you prays after the Friday prayer, he should say for rak'ahs.
Sunan Abi Dawud 1131Sahih (Al-Albani)
and in the other wording:
If you pray after Friday, then pray four (Rak’ah).
Sunan Ibn Majah 1132Sahih (Darussalam)
which Muslim recorded in his Sahih.
This indicates that the Sunnah after the prayer is four—two salam—whether one prays them in the mosque or in the house. It is also established from him (peace and blessings be upon him):
That he used to pray two rak'ahs in his house after Friday prayer
Perhaps this was before he told the people:
When you pray after Friday prayer, pray four
Perhaps this was initially, and then he clarified to them that the Sunnah is four. It is also possible that he performed two rak'ahs at home to indicate that there is no harm in doing so. Whoever prays four, that is the most preferable. If he prays two, there is no harm, and the matter is not one of obligation.
The point is: that four is the most preferable. Praying four—two salam—in the mosque or in the house, this is the most preferable after Friday prayer, based on his statement (peace and blessings be upon him):
If you pray after Friday, then pray four (Rak’ah).
Sunan Ibn Majah 1132Sahih (Darussalam)
and in the other wording:
If anyone of you prays after the Friday prayer, he should say for rak'ahs.
Sunan Abi Dawud 1131Sahih (Al-Albani)
This indicates that the Sunnah is four, meaning: two salam, whether one performs them in the house or in the mosque. The matter is broad in this regard, and praise be to Allah. Yes.

The presenter: Praise be to Allah. May Allah reward you with good, Your Eminence, the Shaykh.
