The ruling on raising the hands during supplication

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner, Lutfi Saleh from Yemen, asks in this question: Is it permissible to raise the hands during supplication?

Answer:
This requires a detailed explanation: Raising the hands is among the causes for the acceptance of supplication. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Your Lord is munificent and generous, and is ashamed to turn away empty the hands of a servant when he raises them to Himإن ربكم حيي كريم، يستحي من عبده إذا رفع يديه إليه أن يردهما صفرًا
Mishkat al-Masabih 2244
And there are hadiths indicating that it is recommended to raise the hands. For example, one raises them during the prayer for rain when seeking relief for the Muslims, and when asking for rain, one raises his hands as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did, and people raise their hands during the prayer for rain in the Friday sermon and in other places; this is the Sunnah. Likewise, in his supplications, if he supplicated in any place, it was better for him to raise his hands as one of the causes for acceptance, except in the places where the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not raise his hands during his time, but did not raise them there; in those cases, you do not raise them, following the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in both action and omission. He did not raise his hands between the two prostrations when he was supplicating, and he did not raise his hands while sitting for the tashahhud at the end of the prayer when supplicating; he would supplicate without raising his hands.
Likewise, after the taslim from the obligatory prayer, he did not raise his hands, so you also do not raise your hands when you say the taslim from the obligatory prayer; you do not raise them. Likewise, between the two prostrations... and when sitting for the tashahhud, you do not raise your hands, because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) did not raise them, and his action is a Sunnah, and his omission is a Sunnah—(peace and blessings be upon him). Yes.
