The time for the pre-'Asr sunnah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This questioner says: If I pray the sunnah of 'Asr, or the pre-sunnah of any obligatory prayer, before the adhan, and when the 'Asr adhan is called I pray the four rak'ahs of the obligatory 'Asr prayer, is the pre-sunnah recorded for me as the pre-'Asr sunnah, or must I pray it after the adhan? I ask for clarification.

Answer:
The sunnah is a voluntary prayer; it is not an obligation. It is recommended to pray four rak'ahs with two taslims after the time of 'Asr has entered. If you pray before the adhan, between 'Asr and 'Asr, prayers—even a hundred rak'ahs—there is no harm. It is a time, praise be to Allah, a wide time, and there is no prohibition in it. If a person prays... after 'Asr, a few rak'ahs, ten rak'ahs, twenty rak'ahs, thirty rak'ahs, there is nothing wrong with it. Praise be to Allah, he says taslim every two rak'ahs.
It is recommended for him, after the 'Asr adhan and after the time of 'Asr has entered, to pray four rak'ahs with two taslims; because of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
May Allah mercy on a person who prays four Rak'at before the 'Asr prayer.رحم الله امرأً صلى أربعًا قبل العصر
Bulugh al-Maram 2:263
It is recommended, not obligatory. The obligatory prayer is the five obligatory prayers: 'Asr, 'Asr, Maghrib, 'Isha', Fajr. These are the obligations. As for the sunnah of 'Asr, 'Asr, Maghrib, 'Isha', Duha, and Witr, they are all voluntary, not obligatory. If he leaves them, he commits no sin, but he has the reward for performing them; he has the great reward. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
