What is the ruling on going to disbeliever countries for the sake of seeking knowledge?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : As for going out for the sake of seeking knowledge, beneficial knowledge, whether it is theoretical knowledge or professional knowledge, this is permissible with two conditions. And as long as I have been asked about something like this, my answer does not differ; rather, it is consistent. The two conditions are: first, that he be married, meaning that he has a wife.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : That he is protected from deviating to the right or the left. And this second condition is that he be protected in his upbringing and his morals, even if he is married. So if these two conditions are met in him, and he goes with his wife and stays there for a year or two, and he does not mix with the people there except to the extent that he obtains the knowledge for which he went, and he is originally protected by this protection in its two aspects, then it is permissible. Otherwise, he would have lost more than he gained, and that is the clear loss.

The questioner : Shall we pray 'Isha', O Shaykh?

The Shaykh : We will pray 'Isha, and it is nine o'clock now. And we will ask your permission after the 'Isha prayer to walk to our town, if Allah wills.

The questioner : Dinner and one.

The Shaykh : For dinner, we had dates and butter.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : And milk and cream.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : What Allah willed, all good.

The questioner : In confirmation of what you mentioned, I saw what is unbelievable.

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : When.

Another questioner : Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest.

The questioner : Here he is cooking dinner.

The Shaykh : Allahu Akbar, is he cooking now?

The questioner : The slaughtered animal is finished.

The Shaykh : What Allah willed.

The questioner : Praise be to Allah, even meaning it is heavy.

The Shaykh : May Allah reward you with good for it.

The questioner : ... .

Another questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : And may He bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as He blessed Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim, for You are Praiseworthy and Majestic. O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and the established prayer.

The questioner : There is a person who has resided for twenty-five years among the disbelievers.

The Shaykh: Allah is the Greatest!

The questioner : So I went to visit him, as I thought... and as Allah - Glorified and Exalted is He - enables us.

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : At the end of the session, I do not want to prolong things for you. I saw a girl and with her a young man entering the house, and we were at the door of the house about to go out. So one of them said, "Stop, it is not me." He said, "Who is this?" He said, "This is my daughter!" He said, "And that one?" He said, "Her friend!"

The Shaykh : Hehehe.

The questioner : With all that, with the same words.

The Shaykh : With all coolness.

The questioner : With all coolness, meaning what.

The Shaykh : With all shamelessness.

The questioner : I did not imagine that a Muslim would reach this point!

The Shaykh : How common that is!

The questioner : That she brings her friend to her father's house!

The Shaykh : Is the Muslim woman marrying the Christian and the Jew?

The questioner : Is he a Christian... George.

The Shaykh : Yes, by Allah.

The questioner : Do you think he is a Muslim, one who worships Allah alone?!

The Shaykh : This is the problem, Allah is the helper.

The questioner : Shall we pray, my master?

The Shaykh : Yes, please.

The questioner : No, no, we will pray, meaning, we have to go outside.

The Shaykh : We will go outside.

The questioner : Okay, can we turn this off, O Shaykh, do you want to?

The Shaykh : How?

The questioner : Can we turn this off, do you want to.

The Shaykh : This is the darkness, meaning the time for 'Isha has entered. Let us establish the prayer.

The questioner: Allah is the Greatest!

The questioner : ... .
