How to Call People to Allah and the Qualities Required of the Caller

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner, our brother from Algeria, actually has some remaining questions. In his second question, he asks: What is the method of calling people to Allah ? What are the conditions that must be present in the one who calls to Allah ? And is calling to Allah obligatory? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
Yes, the method was explained by the Lord . He, the Exalted, said:
Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is bestادْعُ إِلَى سَبِيلِ رَبِّكَ بِالْحِكْمَةِ وَالْمَوْعِظَةِ الْحَسَنَةِ وَجَادِلْهُمْ بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ
[Al-Nahl: 125]. This is the Sunnah. He, Glorious and Exalted, said:
So by mercy from Allah, [O Muhammad], you were lenient with them. And if you had been rude [in speech] and harsh in heart, they would have disbanded from about you.
[Al-Imran: 159]. And Allah said to Musa and Harun when He sent them to Pharaoh:
And speak to him with gentle speech that perhaps he may be reminded or fear [Allah]."فَقُولا لَهُ قَوْلًا لَيِّنًا لَعَلَّهُ يَتَذَكَّرُ أَوْ يَخْشَى
[Ta-Ha: 44].
The Sunnah for the caller is to be gentle and to combine wisdom with knowledge. Allah said... The Messenger said... He should focus on good admonition... encouraging and warning. He should mention what has come regarding the threat for sins and what has come regarding the great reward and abundant good in obedience. He should argue in the best manner when there is doubt or confusion. He should argue in the best manner and with clear explanation, and not be harsh but rather gentle; because this is closer to acceptance and being affected.
The condition of insight, the condition of knowledge, is necessary. The caller must have knowledge and insight. Allah, Glorious and Exalted, said:
Say, "This is my way; I invite to Allah with insightقُلْ هَذِهِ سَبِيلِي أَدْعُوا إِلَى اللَّهِ عَلَى بَصِيرَةٍ
[Yusuf: 108]. It is obligatory for the one who calls to Allah to be on insight... on knowledge, and to be gentle in his calling and to argue in the best manner so that people do not turn away from the truth.
It is also obligatory for him that his words not contradict his actions, and his actions not contradict his words. He should speak the truth and be among the quickest of people to it. He should forbid falsehood and be among the farthest of people from falsehood. This is how the caller to Allah is: he calls to the truth and hastens to it and characterizes himself with it. He forbids falsehood and warns against it and stays away from it. He is gentle in his calling and strives to mention the verses and hadiths; because that affects the hearts and causes acceptance.
It is obligatory for him to be among the quickest of people to what he calls to, and among the farthest of people from what he forbids, from the obligatory and the forbidden. He should be the quickest of people to every obligatory thing he calls to, and the farthest of people from every forbidden thing he forbids; so that people take his words and actions as a model. Allah, Glorious and Exalted, said:
There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent patternلَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ
[Al-Ahzab: 21]. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to call and act. So he was a caller to Allah by his words and his actions, peace and blessings be upon him. So this is how the callers are; it is prescribed for them to be callers to Allah by their actions and their words, and to be on insight, and to be wary of speaking about Allah without knowledge. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, O Shaykh.
