Is the hadith “There is no prayer after Fajr…” authentic?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The listener Abdullah Muhammad Ali Atash from Yemen sent a message containing a collection of questions. In one of them, he says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
There is no prayer after the morning prayer till the sun rises, and there is no prayer after the `Asr prayer till the sun sets.
Sahih al-Bukhari 586
Is this hadith authentic? And if, for example, someone misses the 'Asr prayer, does he not pray it until after the sun sets? Or if someone misses the Fajr prayer, does he not pray it until after the sun rises? Please give us a ruling, may Allah preserve you.

Answer:
This hadith is authentic. It was narrated by the two Shaykhs, al-Bukhari and Muslim, in the two Sahihs, from several hadiths from a group of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them and grant them satisfaction), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that he said:
There is no prayer after Fajr until the sun rises—and in a narration: until the sun has risen high—and there is no prayer after 'Asr until the sun sets.
These are authentic, established hadiths. These times are called: the times of prohibition. It is not permissible for a Muslim to pray voluntary prayers in them. As for a missed obligatory prayer, he prays it, based on his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Whoever sleeps through a prayer or forgets it, let him pray it when he remembers it. There is no expiation for it other than that.
He did not exclude the time of prohibition. So if a person sleeps through the prayer and wakes up before the sun rises or at its rising, he prays. And if a person sleeps through the prayer and does not wake up until the sun is yellowing in the 'Asr, he also prays it, because of this authentic hadith:
Whoever sleeps through a prayer or forgets it, let him pray it when he remembers it; there is no expiation for it except that.
.
Likewise, the funeral prayer is also permissible in the mentioned times. If a funeral prayer is performed in the broad time after the 'Asr prayer or after the Fajr prayer, there is no harm. The funeral prayer is performed in the two long times, after the 'Asr prayer and after the Fajr prayer, so that it is not delayed.
Likewise, the eclipse prayer. If the sun is eclipsed after 'Asr, he prays; because it is one of the prayers with a cause, based on his saying (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding the eclipse:
If you see that, then pray
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1491Sahih (Darussalam)
He did not exclude one time over another.
Likewise, the greeting of the mosque and the prayer of tawaf. If a person enters the mosque after 'Asr to sit in it until Maghrib, the correct view is that he prays two rak'ahs—the greeting of the mosque—because it is one of the prayers with a cause, so he prays it even in the time of prohibition. Or if he enters after the Fajr prayer to sit in the mosque until after the sun rises, or to attend the circles of knowledge, he prays two rak'ahs as the greeting of the mosque. This is the correct view because it is one of the prayers with a cause. Or if he performs tawaf after 'Asr in Makkah, performing tawaf around the Ka'bah after 'Asr, he prays the two rak'ahs of tawaf because it is one of the prayers with a cause, and based on his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
do not prevent anyone from circumambulating this House and praying at any time he wants of night or dayلا تمنعوا أحدًا طاف بهذا البيت، وصلى أية ساعةٍ شاء من ليل أو نهار
Sunan an-Nasa'i 585
Imam Ahmad and the people of the Sunan narrated it with a sound chain.
And by this, you, O questioner, know that a missed obligatory prayer is prayed in the time of prohibition if one slept through it or forgot it. And you also know that the prayers with a cause, such as the funeral prayer after 'Asr and after Fajr, likewise, and the eclipse prayer, the greeting of the mosque, and the prayer of tawaf, are performed in the times of prohibition because they are among the prayers with a cause. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded them and did not exclude the time of prohibition, so that indicates that they are performed in the times of prohibition.
As for a prayer that has no cause, such as standing up to pray after Fajr without a cause, this is forbidden. Or after 'Asr without a cause, this is forbidden. Yes.
