Question:
With the blessing of Allah, we begin this session with a message from the questioner, Umm Tamadur, who says: Your Eminence, what is the difference between the forbearance and the patience that are among the attributes of Allah ?
Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance.
As for what follows: Forbearance is not hastening to punish the sinner. He, Exalted is He, is described as having forbearance (Exalted and Majestic is He), and He is also described as having patience, as in the authentic hadith:Sahih al-Bukhari 7378.
Patience means: not hastening to punish, in that He is patient, meaning: He does not hasten to punish His servants despite all their abundant shirk (associating partners with Allah), their oppression, and their transgression. As He, the Exalted, said: [Yusuf:103]. And He, the Exalted, said: [Al-An'am:116]. And despite this, He delays them, as He said : [Ibrahim:42]. In this are both His forbearance and His patience: His forbearance and patience regarding their harm to Him and His not hastening to punish them. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.

None is more patient than Allah against the harmful and annoying words He hears (from the people): They ascribe children to Him, yet He bestows upon them health and provision

And most of the people, although you strive [for it], are not believers.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
