The honorable Shaykh, what is the difference between a vision and a dream, and how do we distinguish a vision from a dream?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The honorable Shaykh, what is the difference between a vision and a dream? And how do we distinguish a vision from a dream?

The Shaykh : Yes. What a person sees in his sleep is divided into three categories. The first is a vision, which is from Allah (Mighty and Majestic). The angel strikes an example for the dreamer in his sleep, and this example represents something that will happen to the dreamer or something that has already happened, so its truth or falsehood becomes clear to him. Its sign is that the matter comes to pass in accordance with it.
The second is a dream from Shaytan, in which he depicts things to the sleeper that distress and worry him, because Shaytan is eager to distress, worry, and sadden the children of Adam, as Allah the Exalted said:
Private conversation is only from Satan that he may grieve those who have believed, but he will not harm them at all except by permission of Allah
[Al-Mujadila 58:10]
If a person sees such dreams, the remedy is to seek refuge in Allah from the evil of Shaytan and from the evil of what he saw, spit to his left three times, then turn over to his other side, and not tell anyone about it, for it will not harm him.
The third category is what the sleeper sees from matters that occur to him while awake. These matters that passed through his waking state may have engaged his soul, so he sees them in his sleep, or things similar to them. This last type has no ruling, because it is of the nature of the talk of the self. Yes.

The questioner : He also asks and says.
