The dhikr recited between the two prostrations

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A message was received by the program from one of the female listeners. The sender says: Your sister in Allah (N. Abdullah Salem) from Jeddah has a number of questions. In her first question, she asks: Is it permissible for us to say between the two prostrations: “O Allah, forgive me, have mercy on me, and provide for me and my parents,” or is this not found in the hadiths? What is the correct statement? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.

Answer:
It is the Sunnah for the one praying between the two prostrations to say:
Rabbighfir li, Rabbighfir li (O Lord forgive me, O Lord forgive me)رب اغفر لي، رب اغفر لي
Sunan Ibn Majah 897Sahih (Darussalam)
, and to repeat that. It is also prescribed for him to say:
O Allah, grant me pardon, have mercy upon me, direct me to the path of righteousness and provide me sustenance.اللهم اغفر لي وارحمني واهدني واجبرني وارزقني وعافني
Sahih Muslim 2697a
. If he supplicates with other matters along with seeking forgiveness, there is no harm in that. However, seeking forgiveness between the two prostrations is necessary. This is obligatory according to a group of scholars, and the minimum is once. If he repeats it
Rabbighfir li, Rabbighfir li (O Lord forgive me, O Lord forgive me)رب اغفر لي رب اغفر لي
Sunan Ibn Majah 897Sahih (Darussalam)
three times, that is better. If he increases beyond that and says:
O Allah, grant me pardon, have mercy upon me, direct me to the path of righteousness and provide me sustenance.اللهم اغفر لي وارحمني واهدني واجبرني وارزقني وعافني
Sahih Muslim 2697a
, that is also better. If he supplicates for himself and his parents, saying: “O Allah, forgive me and my parents, O Allah, have mercy on me and my parents and the Muslims,” all of that is permissible. It is all supplication, but with attention to saying “O Allah, forgive me” once or more. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
