The ruling on one who leads people in prayer without ablution due to forgetfulness

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The listener (A. M. Al-Otaibi) sent a message saying: I led a congregation in prayer, and after the prayer I realized that I was not in a state of ablution. How should I handle this, given the situation described?
May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
If you did not know and only remembered after the prayer, then you owe nothing; their prayer is valid, and you must repeat it. You have to perform ablution and repeat the prayer. As for them, their prayer is valid. However, if you remembered while you were in the prayer, you should break off and appoint someone to complete the prayer with them. You say to one of the people behind you: “Step forward and complete the prayer with them.” If they start over and pray from the beginning of the prayer, or if they wait for you to return and you pray with them from the beginning, there is nothing wrong with that. But it is easier for them, and more considerate of them, if you have someone step forward to complete the prayer with them, while you go and perform ablution and repeat the prayer. This is the correct course in this matter. Yes.
