Ruling on Making Up the Pre-Prayer Sunnah

Question:
He says: Is it possible to make up the pre-prayer sunnah after the prayer if we missed it beforehand due to being late, for example?

Answer:
Yes, if the pre-prayer sunnah of the Dhuhr prayer is missed, the sunnah is prayed after Dhuhr. It is established that it (peace and blessings be upon him) missed the pre-prayer sunnah of Dhuhr at some times, so he prayed it after Dhuhr. (May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) prayed six: four for the pre-prayer sunnah, and two for the post-prayer sunnah.
The point is: if he misses it and arrives to find that the imam has already called for the prayer to begin, then when he finishes the prayer, he prays four for the pre-prayer sunnah, then prays two for the post-prayer sunnah. This is what is best. Yes.
