The Limits of the Beard

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Your Eminence, would you please specify the legal definition of the beard?

Answer:
The scholars have stated that the beard is what grows on the cheeks and the chin; this is the beard. What grows on the cheeks and the chin is called the beard. As for what grows on the neck, it is not part of the beard. Likewise, what grows above the bone adjacent to the ear is part of the head and not part of the beard. The beard is what grows on the cheeks below the bone that is level with the ear, and on the chin, which is well known. Also, what grows below the lower lip, which is called the chin beard, is part of the beard. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good and do you well. So, is what is taken from below the beard on the side of the neck?

The Shaykh: What is on the neck is not part of the beard.

The presenter: May Allah bless you, may Allah reward you with good.
