The ruling on one who prays Jumu'ah and leaves the other prayers

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is the ruling on one who does not pray except Jumu'ah only?

Answer:
The correct view is that he commits disbelief by doing so. Whoever abandons the prayers commits disbelief, even if he does not deny their obligation, according to the most correct of the scholars' opinions. As for if he denies their obligation, he commits disbelief according to all of them. If he says, "The prayer is not obligatory," he commits disbelief according to all of them. But if he is lax, praying at one time and leaving it at another, or praying only Jumu'ah, or only in Ramadan, then he is a disbeliever according to the most correct of the scholars' opinions. This is based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the authentic hadith:
Between a man and disbelief and shirk (associating partners with Allah) is the abandonment of prayer.بين الرجل وبين الكفر والشرك ترك الصلاة
And the known disbelief and shirk (associating partners with Allah) is major disbelief and major shirk. And based on his (peace and blessings be upon him) saying:
The covenant that distinguishes between us and them is prayer; so whoever leaves it, he has committed Kufr.العهد الذي بيننا وبينهم الصلاة، فمن تركها فقد كفر
Sunan Ibn Majah 1079Sahih (Darussalam)
All of these are authentic hadiths. And because when the Muslims asked him (peace and blessings be upon him) about the rulers who have some sins: "Should we fight them?" He said:
No, as long as they establish prayer among you.لا؛ ما أقاموا فيكم الصلاة
Sahih Muslim 1855a
And in the other wording he said:
unless we noticed him having open Kufr (disbelief) for which we would have a proof with us from Allahإلا أن تروا كفرًا بواحًا، عندكم من الله فيه برهان
Sahih al-Bukhari 7055, 7056
This indicates that abandoning prayer is considered open disbelief. We ask Allah for safety. Yes.
