The Shaykh : After this, I turn to answering what the noble brother wished, which is that my words be about this knowledge mentioned in the noble verse. The matter is very clear to one who has been given even a little of the knowledge derived from the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Among the clearest hadiths that serve as an answer to such a question is his saying (peace and blessings be upon him): , . Of this nature is also his saying (peace and blessings be upon him) when he was sitting among his noble Companions, and when he drew a straight line on the ground, then drew short lines on both sides of this straight line, and then passed his noble finger over the straight line, following the words of the Lord of the Worlds: [Al-An'am 6:153]. Then he said (peace and blessings be upon him), explaining his gesture with his words: , pointing to the straight line: . Thus the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) made it clear to us and placed us on the path of knowledge regarding our religion, when he depicted for us a practical depiction, an artistic depiction if the expression is correct. He drew for us a long straight line, and drew for us around this line and on its sides short lines. In this depiction is a wonderful and exquisite art, where he made the line that the Muslim must follow first straight, and secondly long and very long. Then he drew short lines on both sides of this straight line, and said (peace and blessings be upon him): .
I have left with you two matters; you will not go astray as long as you hold fast to them: the Book of Allah and my Sunnah. They will not separate until they come to me at the Pond.
I have left with you two matters; you will not go astray as long as you hold fast to them: the Book of Allah and my Sunnah. They will not separate until they come to me at the Pond.
And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it; and do not follow [other] ways, for you will be separated from His way
This is the path of Allah.
And these are paths, and at the head of each of them is a Shaytan calling people to it.
These are paths, and at the head of each of them is a Shaytan calling people to it.
