The ruling on one who swears an oath to prevent his wife from visiting her relatives

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He says: "I once swore an oath to my wife that she should not go to her relatives. I swore out of fear of conflict. Is there a sin on me for this? I ask for your guidance. May Allah reward you with good."

Answer:
If you swore an oath for a legitimate Shari'ah interest, there is no harm, provided her relatives teach her evil and she shows defiance toward you; in that case, there is no harm. Otherwise, allow her to go and expiate your oath. If you did swear, expiate your oath with the expiation of... feeding ten poor people from the needy, giving each one half a sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg) of dates, rice, wheat, or other staple food of the country, which amounts to one and a half kilograms; or clothing, giving each one a garment as expiation for the oath, for ten people. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
