Ruling on divorcing a woman because her father does not pray

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A message reached the program from one of the listening brothers who preferred not to mention his name, except by saying: The sender, Awad, says: O His Eminence the Shaykh! I have an uncle to whose daughter I am married, and he does not pray. I am confused about how to treat him. Should I divorce his daughter for the sake of her father? Knowing that she performs the prayer and has no sin, guide us. May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
Allah the Exalted says:
and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of anotherوَلا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَى
[Al-An'am: 164] And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The sinner does not sin except against himselfلا يجني الجاني إلا على نفسه
So do not divorce her for the sake of her father, as long as she is upright. Praise be to Allah. Stick with her, treat her well, and deal with her with the good treatment that is due:
The best of you are the best of you to their wivesخياركم خياركم لنسائهم
So you must have good character and good treatment with your wife.
As for her father, you must pray for his guidance. Call upon Allah for his guidance, and advise him frequently. You and the good brothers with you go to him and advise him, because performing the prayer is an obligatory matter, and the prayer is a pillar of Islam, indeed it is the pillar of Islam.
So you and your good brothers must advise him, direct him to good, and keep an eye on him constantly. Perhaps Allah will guide him through your hands. If he refuses, he deserves to be boycotted. He is to be boycotted. Do not invite him to a wedding feast, and do not accept his invitation if he invites you, until he repents.
But as much as you can, you and your good brothers from his neighbors and relatives, strive. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the authentic hadith:
if one man is guided on the right path (i.e. converted to Islam) through you, it would be better for you than (a great number of) red camels.لأن يهدي الله بك رجلًا واحدًا خير لك من حمر النعم
Sahih al-Bukhari 3701
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
He who amongst you sees something abominable should modify it with the help of his hand; and if he has not strength enough to do it, then he should do it with his tongue, and if he has not strength enough to do it, (even) then he should (abhor it) from his heartمن رأى منكم منكرًا؛ فليغيره بيده، فإن لم يستطع؛ فبلسانه، فإن لم يستطع؛ فبقلبه
Sahih Muslim 49a
And you are able, praise be to Allah, with the tongue. So forbid him the evil with the tongue, advise him, counsel him, and repeat it to him, perhaps Allah will make guidance through your hands. Yes.

The presenter: O Allah, amen. May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
