Ruling on divorcing a wife who harms the husband's mother

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
If I notice that my wife is openly hostile toward my mother, is it obligatory for me to divorce her?

Answer:
This requires a detailed explanation. If it is possible to correct her, advise her, and guide her toward good so that she behaves properly with her mother-in-law, then do that. Likewise, if the mother can improve the relationship between them through kind words and a good manner, that is better. However, if she is harming the mother and her remaining in the marriage results in harm to the mother, then it is obligatory to separate from her, because this is a form of undutifulness to parents.
The point is: if the woman is harming the mother, it is obligatory to separate from her, unless the mother forgives and says, "No, do not leave her, and I will be patient," and she sees the benefit in not separating from her; in that case, the decision is hers.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
