Ruling on giving zakat al-fitr in cash, and giving a daughter from the zakah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
From the questions of this questioner—His Eminence the Shaykh says: Is it permissible to give zakat al-fitr in cash? And is it permissible for a father to give zakat al-fitr to his married daughter, knowing that her husband's income is not sufficient for them?

Answer:
He is not permitted to give the zakah in cash; the zakah is to be given as food. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prescribed it as food: a sa' of dates, or a sa' of barley, a sa' of raisins, a sa' of dried curds, meaning: a sa' of the staple food of the land. It is obligatory to give zakat al-fitr as food according to the majority of the scholars, and it is not permissible to give it in cash.
It is not permissible to give the zakah to his daughter. If her husband is poor, the husband himself gives it to her. If the husband is poor, there is no harm. But if he gives it to his daughter, or his daughter's daughter, or his son's daughter, no. Or if he gives it to his grandmother or his father, no. The descendants and the ancestors do not receive the zakah. But if he gives it to his poor sister, or his poor paternal aunt, or his poor maternal aunt, or his poor paternal uncle who is not living in his house and is independent, and he gives it to him, there is no harm if he is poor. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you.
