What is the ruling on breaking the fast for one who is fasting voluntarily?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
... The questioner, your brother in Allah Abu Sarah, says: I want to ask you, O Shaykh, about the one who is fasting voluntarily, then he wants to break his fast without completing his fast, so is there anything required of him, and that is without an excuse?

Answer:
The voluntary fast is under his own command; if he wishes, he completes it, and if he wishes, he breaks it. The better course is to complete it. So if the need arises for him to break it, there is no harm.
The point is: the voluntary fast is under his own command. If he completes it, that is better. And if the need arises for him to break it, there is no harm, and praise be to Allah. For example, if a guest comes to break his fast, he eats with the guest. Or if he finds severe heat, he breaks his fast. Or something similar to these needs that lead him to break his fast, there is no harm.
The point is: it is permissible for him to break the fast, because it is a voluntary act, not an obligation. So if he breaks it, even without an excuse, there is no harm.

The presenter: May Allah reward you, O Shaykh.
