Is there a supplication in the last unit of the Fajr prayer?

Question:
Is there a supplication recited in the Fajr prayer in the last unit after reciting al-Fatihah and a surah following it? What is the ruling on this supplication?

Answer:
It has no basis. When one finishes the recitation, he bows. There is no supplication, neither after bowing nor before bowing. The qunut after bowing in Fajr is weak. Some scholars held this view, but it is a weak opinion, and the correct view is to leave it.
The correct view is that there is no qunut except in times of calamity. If calamities befall the Muslims, the imam performs qunut in Fajr and other prayers, such as when the enemy surrounds them. The imam then performs qunut after bowing in Fajr, or in Zuhr, or in other prayers, supplicating against the polytheists and asking Allah for the victory of the Muslims. As for the qunut that some people perform constantly in Fajr, the correct view is to leave it.
