Prayer, Friday Prayer, 'Umrah, and Hajj as Expiations for Sins

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
In his final question, he says: We know that the interval from one prayer to the next, from one Friday to the next, and from one 'Umrah to the next is an expiation for sins committed in between, provided major sins are avoided, as reported from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Suppose a person commits a sin on a Wednesday after the 'Asr prayer. Does this mean that the Maghrib prayer is an expiation for this sin, if it is not a major sin? Also, is the Friday prayer an expiation for this sin, since it occurred between two Fridays? And is 'Umrah likewise? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the authentic hadith:
The five [daily] prayers, Friday to Friday and Ramadan to Ramadan make atonement for what has happened since the previous one when major sins have been avoided.الصلوات الخمس، والجمعة إلى الجمعة، ورمضان إلى رمضان كفارات لما بينهن إذا اجتنبت الكبائر
Mishkat al-Masabih 564
And in another wording:
so long as one does not commit any major sinما لم تغش الكبائر
Sunan Ibn Majah 1086Sahih (Darussalam)
This is the explicit statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in what Muslim narrated in his Sahih. If the servant has avoided major sins, but some minor sins occur from him, then these acts of worship become an expiation for what occurred from him; this is a favor from Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He).
And so it is with 'Umrah and Hajj. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
An Umra is an expiation for the sins committed between it and the nextالعمرة إلى العمرة كفارة لما بينهما
Sahih Muslim 1349a
Meaning: provided major sins are not committed, just as with prayer. And so it is from one Hajj to the next. This is from His favor (Glorified and Exalted is He), His existence, and His generosity.
Therefore, it is obligatory to be cautious of all evil deeds, both small and large, and to repent to Allah from them. If the servant is afflicted with some of the minor evil deeds, then his five daily prayers, his Friday prayers, his fasting of Ramadan, his Hajj, and his 'Umrah are all expiations. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
