The Ruling on Da'wah and Maintaining Family Ties Regarding Women
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A message was sent from al-Qasim by one of the female listeners, who indicated her name with the letters (A. H). She has a collection of questions, one of which says: Is performing the matters of da'wah, enjoining good and forbidding evil, and maintaining family ties obligatory for the woman just as it is obligatory for the man, and from among her relatives, whom does she maintain ties with? May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
Yes, the rulings are general for men and women. What is obligatory for the man is obligatory for the woman, and what is obligatory for the woman is obligatory for the man, except for what is specified by evidence. Allah the Exalted said: [Surah al-Tawbah: 71]. Thus, He equalized between them all, between the believing men and the believing women, and informed that these matters are necessary for them, and they are among their great obligatory attributes and characteristics imposed upon them. And He said (Exalted and Majestic is He): [Surah al-Ahzab: 35]. Ten categories of men and women, ten, all of them included in Islam and faith, all these categories, but their type varies due to the diversity of deeds.
[Al-Ahzab 33:35] The Muslim: The one who entered into Islam, submitted to the religion of Allah, established the oneness of Allah, believed in Allah and His Messenger, and believed Allah in His reports, and believed the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and believed in everything that Allah and His Messenger reported, is called a Muslim. If he completes the religion and stands firm upon the religion of Allah, he becomes a complete believer. If he persists in acts of obedience and strives in acts of obedience, he is called one who is devout. If he is among the people of charity and excellence in worship, he becomes one who gives charity. If he is among those who are patient in obedience to Allah and patient in avoiding sins, he is called one who is patient. If he performs deeds with humility, presence of heart, and tranquility, he is called one who is humble.
And likewise, if he fasts frequently, fasts Ramadan, fasts; then he is among the fasting men and fasting women. And likewise, guarding the private parts from unlawful sexual intercourse for the man and the woman is included in His saying: And likewise, dhikr, if he is among the people of dhikr, he is among those who remember Allah much, the men and the women, both of them.
So you must strive in obedience to Allah and His Messenger, and you must be eager to perform the obligatory: such as da'wah to Allah, enjoining good and forbidding evil, hastening to good deeds, striving in acts of obedience, and truthfulness in deed and speech. This is the believer and the believing woman. These ten attributes are among the attributes of the believing men and believing women, from Arabs and non-Arabs, and jinn and humans.
So each one strives to be among these, and the Muslim should strive to be among these. And likewise, every Muslim woman has to strive until she is characterized by these great morals. And He said (Exalted and Majestic is He): [Surah Al-Imran: 195].
So all their deeds are preserved, and Allah does not let anything of it be lost, the males and the females. Then He will reward them for it And He said : [Surah al-Nahl: 97]. All of them, but what is specified by evidence for the man is for the man; such as marrying four wives, and the woman does not have but one husband. His blood money is one hundred camels, and her blood money is fifty camels. The woman is affected by menstruation and post-natal bleeding, and the man is not so. She carries a child and he does not carry. Things that are specific, between them are things in which they differ, between them are the Book and the Sunnah.
And the intended meaning: that the original rule is that they are equal, this is the original rule, the rulings are one for men and women, except for what is specified by evidence. May Allah guide them all.
The presenter: O Allah, amen. May Allah reward you with good.
