The Ruling on Excessive Movement in Prayer
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A letter reached the program from one of the listening brothers, who indicated his name at the end with the letters (S. F). He asks about those who move a lot while performing the prayer. He says: What is your opinion, Your Eminence, of one who is negligent in standing before the Lord while he is praying, and does many movements? For example: he puts one foot forward of the other, and so on, and moves some of his clothes. I ask for guidance on this. May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
What is prescribed for the believer in prayer is humility in it, turning to it, tranquility, and being conscious that he is before Allah until he becomes humble. Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) said: [Al-Mu'minun: 1-2].
Tranquility is a pillar of the pillars of prayer; it is obligatory, and it is necessary. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man who did not attain tranquility in his prayer, so he ordered him to repeat the prayer, and he said to him (peace and blessings be upon him):Bulugh al-Maram 2:139 And in the other wording: Sahih al-Bukhari 793.
So he (peace and blessings be upon him) made it clear to him that tranquility is necessary, and that if he does not attain tranquility, his prayer is invalid. He ordered him to repeat it three times, until he said: "O Messenger of Allah! By He who sent you with the truth, I do not know how to do anything other than this, so teach me." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught him.
So much continuous fiddling invalidates the prayer. The fiddling of the one praying with his clothes, or his feet, or something else, if it is much and continuous, invalidates the prayer according to the scholars. As for a little, it is excused; a small amount is excused.
So my advice to every believer, and every believing woman, is humility in prayer, turning to it, caring for it, tranquility, and guarding against fiddling, not with clothes, not with the beard, and not with anything else. May Allah grant everyone success and guidance. Yes.
The presenter: O Allah, amen. May Allah reward you with good.

When you get up to pray, perform ablution perfectly, then face the Qiblah and say: 'Allahu Akbar' (Allah is the Most Great). Then recite a convenient portion of the Qur'an
إذا قمت إلى الصلاة؛ فأسبغ الوضوء، ثم استقبل القبلة، فكبر، ثم اقرأ ما تيسر معك من القرآنand then recite from the Qur'an what you know and then bow with calmness till you feel at ease, then rise from bowing till you stand straight. Afterwards prostrate calmly till you feel at ease and then raise (your head) and sit with Calmness till you feel at ease and then prostrate with calmness till you feel at ease in prostration and do the same in the whole of your prayer.
So he (peace and blessings be upon him) made it clear to him that tranquility is necessary, and that if he does not attain tranquility, his prayer is invalid.
