Advice for the one who prolongs his absence from his wife

Question:
He asks and says: I am currently residing in the Kingdom, and I am away from my wife for a year, or a year and a half. Is there harm in my being away from my wife and my children?

Answer:
The advice and counsel is that you should not be far from them for long. If you are away, visit them every two or three months, and do not neglect them, except in cases of extreme necessity, especially if she is lenient and content with that.
The point is that a woman is at risk when her husband is far from her, especially in this era. My advice to you, and to those like you, is not to be far from your wife, and not to prolong your absence. Rather, be close to her, even if the income is small, for in that there is great good for you and your family. Do not strive for much wealth while being absent and far from your family, exposing yourself and your family to dangers. Indeed, a person is at risk, and the soul incites to evil, and the time is dangerous due to the prevalence of corruption on earth and the many who expose the believer to evil in his life now. You should strive to be close to your family, and to the chastity of your private parts, your gaze, your hearing, and the chastity of your family, even if the income is small, as long as it suffices for your needs. If you are absent, do not prolong the absence; rather, limit it to two or three months; perhaps that will suffice you, and good will be achieved for everyone, for you and your family.
