The ruling on praying in the mosque for one who has eaten garlic or onions
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Some people eat garlic in Ramadan, and you may find that it has a strong smell emanating from them. Does this affect the fast? Please guide us, may Allah reward you.
Answer:
It is not permissible for one who prays with the people to eat garlic, onions, or leeks; he must refrain from doing so. If he does, he must be taken out of the mosque so that he does not harm the people. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to order them to be taken out when they ate garlic and onions, so that they would not harm the people. Therefore, the one who eats garlic out of need, or onions out of need, should pray in his home, not with the people. It is the duty of the authorities or those in charge to take him out of the mosque so that he does not harm the people.
