Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This questioner says: Your Eminence, what is the concise description of the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) Hajj? And what are the books you advise us to read in this area?

Answer:
We have explained it, and the scholars have explained it in the books of rituals, and we have explained it in our book *Al-Tahqiq wa al-Iyadh*, which is a concise book. In it, we explained the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) Hajj from the time he left Madinah—he (peace and blessings be upon him) left Madinah and entered the state of ihram from the miqat, Dhul-Hulayfah, for Hajj and 'Umrah. He brought along one hundred sacrificial animals: sixty-three from Madinah and thirty-seven that came from Yemen. He continued to recite the talbiyah from the time he entered ihram at Dhul-Hulayfah, continuing to recite: “Labbaik Allahumma labbaik, labbaik la sharika laka labbaik, innal-hamda wan-ni'ma laka wal-mulk, la sharika lak,” on the road until he reached Makkah.
Then he performed tawaf for seven circuits, starting with the Black Stone, kissing it, and touching it with his hand, and saying: Allahu Akbar. He performed tawaf for seven circuits—he (peace and blessings be upon him)—running in the first three, meaning he hurried in them, and walking in the last four. Then he prayed two rak'ahs behind the Maqam, then he passed the Black Stone and touched it.
Then he went to al-Safa and performed sa'y for seven circuits. He would ascend al-Safa, raise his hands, declare the oneness of Allah, say Allahu Akbar, and supplicate three times, repeating it. Then he would descend and walk. When he reached the bottom of the valley, he would run, hurrying in the bottom of the valley between the two markers until he exited the valley. Then he would walk until he ascended al-Marwah, where he would say Allahu Akbar, remember Allah, say La ilaha illa Allah, and supplicate three times, just as he did on al-Safa, for seven circuits.
Then he remained in his state of ihram because he had the sacrificial animals with him and had not exited ihram. He ordered the people to exit ihram, to shorten their hair, and those who did not have sacrificial animals with them exited ihram. So they performed tawaf, sa'y, shortened their hair, and exited ihram by the command of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). As for those who had sacrificial animals with them, he ordered them to remain in their state of ihram until they exited ihram on the Day of Sacrifice.
And the description of the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) Hajj is well known. Whoever wants it should refer to the books of the scholars, and among them is our book *Al-Tahqiq wa al-Iyadh*, which is concise and beneficial in this chapter.

The presenter: May Allah reward you and benefit you with your knowledge, Your Eminence.
