What is the ruling on the prayer of one who forgot the basmalah?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The first message in this episode is from the Arab Republic of Egypt, sent by our brother Khalid Khalil Bu Bakr Yunis Abu Shanninah. We presented some of his questions in a previous episode, and in this episode he has a few more. He asks and says: If a person praying forgets the basmalah in the prayer, is the prayer invalid? Or is it obligatory for him to perform the prostration for forgetfulness? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon whoever follows his guidance. As for what follows:
The correct opinion among the scholars regarding the basmalah is that it is a recommended practice (sunnah), not obligatory. However, it is prescribed before the surahs in the prayer, and outside of it, except for Surat al-Baqarah. If the person praying forgets it, he owes nothing, his prayer is valid, and he does not have to perform the prostration for forgetfulness. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
