The ruling on consistently fasting on Mondays and Thursdays

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A message was received by the program from one of the female listeners. She says: Your sister in Allah (F. H. M.) Al-Mutayri. Our sister has a collection of questions, one of which is: If one wants to fast on Monday and Thursday, is it obligatory for him to fast them permanently, or according to his ability?

Answer:
It is not obligatory for you to do so permanently; rather, this is recommended whenever it is facilitated. A voluntary act is never obligatory except by vow. If one fasts on Monday and Thursday, this is a good deed. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to fast them, and he said:
Those are two days in which deeds are shown to the Lord of the worlds, and I like my deeds to be shown (to Him) when I am fasting.إنهما يومان تعرض فيهما الأعمال على الله، فأحب أن يعرض عملي وأنا صائم
Sunan an-Nasa'i 2358Hasan (Darussalam)
And if one breaks the fast, there is no blame on him. Or if he fasts some days and leaves some days, fasts some months and leaves some months, fasts in some weeks and leaves some weeks, there is nothing wrong with it. The matter is broad, with the praise of Allah, because it is a voluntary act.
Likewise, if one fasts the six days of Shawwal and leaves them in some years, there is nothing wrong with it. However, the best is to be consistent. If consistency is facilitated, it is better. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
and the best deeds to Allah are the incessant ones though they were few.أحب الأعمال إلى الله ما دام عليه صاحبه، وإن قل
Sahih al-Bukhari 5861
And likewise, fasting the Day of 'Arafah is a recommended practice for those who are not on pilgrimage. As for the pilgrim, he does not fast on the Day of 'Arafah. But for those who are not on pilgrimage, it is a recommended practice to fast the Day of 'Arafah. If one breaks the fast in some years, there is no blame on him. And this is a rule: A voluntary act is not binding except by vow. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
