The Ruling on Fasting the Days of Monday and Thursday

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
One of the female listeners, whose name is Samiyyah Muhammad, sent a message saying: I read in two books differing opinions regarding fasting on the days of Monday and Thursday. Please guide me on this matter.
May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
Fasting on Monday and Thursday is a recommended practice (sunnah). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do so, and when he was asked about it, he said:
Those are two days in which deeds are shown to the Lord of the worlds, and I like my deeds to be shown (to Him) when I am fasting.إنهما يومان تعرض فيهما الأعمال على الله، فأحب أن يعرض عملي وأنا صائم
Sunan an-Nasa'i 2358Hasan (Darussalam)
So it is a recommended practice (sunnah) for the believing man and woman to fast on these days if it is easy for them, but it is not obligatory; rather, it is recommended (mustahabb).
Likewise, fasting three days of every month, and fasting the white days—which are the thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth—is all a recommended practice (sunnah). So if one fasts the white days, or fasts three days from the beginning of the month, or from the middle, or from the end, or distributes them, all of this is a recommended practice (sunnah). Or if one fasts Monday and Thursday, all of this is a recommended practice (sunnah). Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, may Allah reward you with good.
