The Ruling on Blood Discharged After Menstruation

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
In the final questions from this questioner (N. S. B) from Riyadh, His Eminence the Shaykh says: When her monthly period comes, the bleeding continues for about four days, then it stops. After that, a dark discharge comes, lasting approximately three days. Then the blood returns, but it is different from the blood that comes at the beginning of the period, and it continues for approximately [a period], then it stops. After that, a dark discharge comes, followed by yellow discharge, lasting about four days. The total is twelve days. The question is: Does she leave off the prayer for all twelve days? Or what does she do?

Answer:
She leaves off the prayer for the days of her menstruation, which are the days of her custom. When that ends and she sees purity, she prays and fasts, and she does not pay attention to these other discharges, the drops, or the yellow discharge, or anything similar. All of this is corrupt blood. She protects herself with some cotton, and she performs the ablution for every prayer until the next period comes. These things that interrupt her are corrupt blood, and she does not pay attention to them. Rather, she must fast, pray, and perform the ablution for every prayer. Umm Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "We did not count the dark discharge and the yellow discharge after purity as anything." And when some women complained to him (peace and blessings be upon him), he said:
Remain away (from prayer) equal (to the length of time) that your menses prevented you. After this (after the period of usual courses) bathe yourself and offer prayer.امكثي قدر ما كانت تحبسك حيضتك، ثم اغتسلي وصلي
Sahih Muslim 334e
.
The point is that she stays [in the state of menstruation] for the days of her custom, and after that she prays and fasts. If she has blood, or drops, or yellow discharge, or something with her, she protects herself, and she performs the ablution for every prayer. Whenever the time for prayer enters, she performs the ablution and prays. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you, O Shaykh.
