The Ruling on Breaking the Fast in Ramadan Due to Ignorance

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The sisters Umm Aml, Umm Ruqayyah, and Umm Abd al-Rahman from Tabuk have a set of questions. My first question, Your Eminence, is that one of them mentions and says: She is a girl who is twenty-one years old. She used to tend sheep in Ramadan and would drink without anyone knowing except Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), and she says this was due to her ignorance. Now she remembers those days and wants to make up what she owes, but she does not know the number of these days; are they few or many? She does not have a strong suspicion as to how many days it was. She says: Please guide us, Your Eminence?

Answer:
If that was after she reached puberty and was instructed, she must make up the fasts. However, if that was before puberty, before she completed fifteen years of age, before she had her first period, if she was a child, she does not have to make them up. But if it was after puberty, she must make them up by estimating; estimating... ten days... twenty days... thirty days. She should estimate according to her ability and fast.

The presenter: May Allah preserve you, O Shaykh.
