Question:
We return in this episode to the message of one of our female listeners, (S. S.) from al-Madinah al-Munawwarah, where we presented some of her questions in a previous episode. In this episode, she asks about the exegesis of the saying of the Truth, Blessed and Exalted is He:
She was told, "Enter the palace." But when she saw it, she thought it was a body of water and uncovered her shins [to wade through]. He said, "Indeed, it is a palace [whose floor is] made smooth with glass." She said, "My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, and I submit with Solomon to Allah, Lord of the worlds."
[Surat al-Naml: 44]. I hope you will explain this verse to us?

Answer:
The verse is clear and contains no ambiguity. This was a palace belonging to Sulayman, paved with glass, which she thought was water. She uncovered her legs, thinking it was water to be waded through, but it turned out not to be water to be waded through. Then the truth of what Sulayman had called her to, namely the religion of Allah and His oneness, became apparent to her. She informed him that she had wronged herself with disbelief and that she had submitted to Allah, Lord of the worlds, along with Sulayman by entering Islam and accepting Sulayman's call to Islam. Then he married her, peace and blessings be upon him.
The point is that the verse is clear. The uncovering of her legs had an effect, as mentioned by the exegetes, in Sulayman's marriage to her, for when he saw her feet, a suitor or one interested in marriage is permitted to look at her feet, her face, and her hands, and there is no harm in that. This uncovering became the cause of Sulayman's desire for her, as mentioned by the exegetes. As for his placing the palace in this condition, there were reasons that necessitated it. Sulayman, peace and blessings be upon him, saw that he should place it in this condition for reasons he perceived. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh: We seek help from Allah. Yes.
