Ruling on eating birds slaughtered by hand

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The following is a message from our brother Ahmad Salem al-Hamid from the United Arab Emirates. We presented part of his questions in a previous episode, and in this episode he asks and says: What is the ruling on one who slaughters birds by hand, meaning: he separates the head from the body, holding the head with one hand and the body with the other, then pulls with force? Is it permissible to eat them in this manner?

Answer:
This is a reprehensible form of slaughter; the slaughtered animal becomes carrion, and it is not permissible to eat; due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
If the killing tool causes blood to flow out, and if Allah's Name is mentioned, eat (of the slaughtered animal). But do not slaughter with a tooth or a nail.ما أنهر الدم وذكر اسم الله فكل ليس السن والظفر
Sahih al-Bukhari 5509
. Therefore, it is not permissible to tear off the head by hand in this way. There must be a sharp instrument; the sharp instrument must cut the blood vessels. As for something like this, it is called strangling, like strangling; it is considered strangling, and it results in... it becomes carrion. So it is necessary that he slaughters it with a knife or something like a knife among sharp instruments, except for bones and teeth, no, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) explained. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
