The ruling on one who falls into some form of shirk (associating partners with Allah) without intention

Question:
He says: Since many people fall into shirk (associating partners with Allah) without intention, what is the ruling on that?
Answer:
It is obligatory to warn the one who has fallen into shirk (associating partners with Allah), alerting him to the severity of what he has fallen into, and that he has fallen into a great matter. He should be alerted to the severity of that, and he should be ordered to repent; because in matters of shirk (associating partners with Allah), one is not excused by ignorance. And he, being among the Muslims, must learn and ask, and not be lax.
So the one who calls upon other than Allah, seeks aid from other than Allah, or calls upon the jinn, seeks aid from them, or asks for their help; he has committed a great disbelief (kufr). He must be alerted. And if he says: "O jinn, take him," or: "O seven, take him," or: "O jinn of such-and-such place, take so-and-so," or "do such-and-such to him," or "help us against such-and-such," or "assist us in such-and-such"; this is like the one who says: "O 'Uzzah, and O Manat, help us," or calls upon the dead and the absent. They are all the same, like the one who says: "O my master al-Badawi," or: "O my master al-Husayn," or: "O Lady Zaynab," or: "O so-and-so," or: "O so-and-so (female), help us," or "aid us"; this is major disbelief (kufr akbar), major shirk (shirk akbar). Or: "O Shaykh 'Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani, help us," or: "O so-and-so, from the dead," or: "O Messenger of Allah, help us," after his death (peace and blessings be upon him), or: "O Abu Bakr," or: "O 'Umar," or: "O 'Uthman, help us"; this is major shirk (shirk akbar); because Allah says: [al-Jinn:18], and He says: [al-Mu'minun:117]. He called them disbelievers (kuffar) by that. And He said, (Exalted and Majestic is He): [Fatir 35:13] If you call them, they do not hear your call, and even if they did hear, they would not respond to you, and on the Day of Resurrection they will disavow your shirk (associating partners with Allah) [Fatir:13-14]. So He called their calling of them shirk (associating partners with Allah). And the polytheists (mushrikin) call upon other than Allah, seek aid from other than Allah, and they see that it is a means of nearness to Allah, and that they seek nearness to Allah through this shirk (associating partners with Allah). He, the Exalted, said: [Yunus 10:18] So Allah refuted them by His saying: [Yunus:18]. He called it shirk (associating partners with Allah), an act. He, the Exalted, said in Surat al-Tanzil: [Az-Zumar 39:2] Know that to Allah belongs pure religion, and those who take others besides Him as allies say: "We do not worship them except to bring us closer to Allah in nearness" meaning: they say: "We do not worship them except to bring us closer to Allah in nearness." So Allah refuted them by His saying: [al-Zumar:2-3]. So He made it clear that the disbelievers (kuffar) are disbelievers in that.
So this indicates that calling upon other than Allah is disbelief (kufr) and misguidance; because they said:[Az-Zumar 39:3], so He made it clear that this is false, so He said: [Az-Zumar 39:3], so He called them liars, by their claim that those whom they call bring them closer to Allah in nearness. And He called them disbelievers (kuffar), by their calling upon them, their seeking intercession through them, and their asking for their help.
So this clarifies for us that calling upon idols other than Allah and the dead is disbelief (kufr) and misguidance, and that their saying: "They bring them closer to Allah" is a lie with no truth to it. So they do not bring them closer, and that is not permissible in their regard. Rather, they are more deserving [of worship], rather it is disbelief (kufr) in Allah .

so do not invoke with Allah anyone.
And whoever invokes besides Allah another deity for which he has no proof - then his account is only with his Lord. Indeed, the disbelievers will not succeed.
That is Allah, your Lord; to Him belongs sovereignty. And those whom you invoke other than Him do not possess [as much as] the membrane of a date seed.
And they worship other than Allah that which neither harms them nor benefits them, and they say, "These are our intercessors with Allah
Say, "Do you inform Allah of something He does not know in the heavens or on the earth?" Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Him
So worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion.
Indeed, Allah will judge between them concerning that over which they differ. Indeed, Allah does not guide he who is a liar and [confirmed] disbeliever.
So this indicates that calling upon other than Allah is disbelief (kufr) and misguidance; because they said:
We only worship them that they may bring us nearer to Allah in position
Indeed, Allah will judge between them concerning that over which they differ. Indeed, Allah does not guide he who is a liar and [confirmed] disbeliever.
So this clarifies for us that calling upon idols other than Allah and the dead is disbelief (kufr) and misguidance, and that their saying: "They bring them closer to Allah" is a lie with no truth to it.
