Supplicating to other than Allah is major shirk

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The sixth question of Fatwa No. ( 6009 ):
Q6: My father believes in the deceased shaykh, whom we know as a wali (close friend of Allah), and he seeks nearness to Allah through him and associates him with Allah in supplication. For example, he says: “O Lord, O my master 'Abd al-Salam.” What is the ruling in Islam regarding this, given that he prays, fasts, and pays zakah?
A6: Supplicating to the dead and the absent, whether prophets, awliya (close friends of Allah), or others, whether alone or together with Allah, is major shirk, even if one fasts, prays, and pays zakah. This is based on the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And do not invoke besides Allah that which neither benefits you nor harms you, for if you did, then indeed you would be of the wrongdoers.'"
[Yunus 10:106]
, and His saying the Exalted:
That is Allah, your Lord; to Him belongs sovereignty. And those whom you invoke other than Him do not possess [as much as] the membrane of a date seed. (14) If you invoke them, they do not hear your supplication; and if they heard, they would not respond to you. And on the Day of Resurrection they will deny your association. And none can inform you like [one] Acquainted [with all matters].
[Fatir 35:13-14]

And there are many verses in this meaning. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
