Ruling on Abandoning the Pursuit of Knowledge Due to the Problem of Forgetting

I fear that you may have been afflicted with a sin that you have persisted in. So hold yourself to account, repent to Allah from sins, strive, ask your Lord for success, and be glad with good news.
A person may be afflicted with a sin that he persists in, and thereby be deprived of much knowledge. So you must repent to Allah, hold yourself to account, and strive in studying and reviewing with some of your good companions, especially at the appropriate times: times when the heart is free, whether at night or during the day. Be glad with good news, do not despair. Allah says: [Yusuf: 87].
