What is the correct stance toward the various groups?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is it obligatory for us to work to dissolve these groups that have divided the community and turned into chaos?

Answer:
It is obligatory to strive to dissolve them so that they become one united block, and so that their call is one. Therefore, the rulers and the people of authority and decision must intervene through lawful means until their word is united and the disagreement among them is removed; because disagreement harms those being called: they do not know who is in the right!
Q: Regarding the groups that claim allegiance to the Book and the Sunnah, where Satan has entered between them and they have split apart, each one opposing according to their group and supporting according to their group, and then some of them curse others?
A: As we said: It is obligatory for the scholars and the leaders to resolve their problems, gather them together, and remove the issues between them, so that their word is one. Otherwise, this is evil for them and for others. Allah says:
And do not be like the ones who became divided and differed after the clear proofs had come to them. And those will have a great punishment.
[Al-Imran: 105], so unity is necessary. He, the Exalted, says:
And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become dividedوَاعْتَصِمُوا بِحَبْلِ اللَّهِ جَمِيعًا وَلَا تَفَرَّقُوا
[Al-Imran: 103]. Unity and cooperation are obligatory. It is obligatory for the ruling authority and the scholars to exert their utmost effort to gather the sects, whether two, three, or four, to gather them so that they remove the disagreement among them, so that it does not become a source of doubt for the ignorant.
Q: Regarding unity: How can a person affiliate with them in such a situation, since there is hatred among them, with each one hating the other?
A: They must affiliate with the Book and the Sunnah, with Islam, not with Zayd or 'Umar. They must all be followers of the Book and the Sunnah, and servants of the Book and the Sunnah. They must not be partisan for their leader or follow their leader blindly. They must not imitate the hypocrites, or the Khawarij, or the Mu'tazilah. No, it is obligatory that their goal be following the Book and the Sunnah; they have no goal other than this.
Q: I mean, O Shaykh: If an individual Muslim is in such a situation, what should his stance be? Does he affiliate with the first group, or the second, or the third, or does he remain neutral?
A: He should ask those he trusts so that he knows the truth. He should ask the scholars he trusts, even if it requires traveling from one country to another, until he asks: Who is in the right? What is the truth? What is the path? What is the way? Until he is guided to the good. He must ask.
