Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
(The hadith
When one of you eats, then let him lick his fingersإذا أكل أحدكم فلْيَلْعَق أصابعه
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1801Sahih (Darussalam)
) Does this imply that being full is not disliked? Because he ate all the food that was in the bowl?

Answer:
Being full is permissible, but it is better to leave some over; otherwise, being full is permissible. In the authentic narrations, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) invited the people of the Soffah one day, and they gathered at his place, numbering about seventy. Milk had been gifted to him, so he ordered Abu Hurayrah to pass the cup of milk around to the people. He would go to them and they would drink, about seventy of them, each drinking what he needed. Then, there remained in the cup as if no one had drunk from it. Abu Hurayrah presented it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him:
Drink, O Abu Hurayrahاشرب يا أبا هريرة
So he drank. Then he said to him:
Drink. اشرب
So he drank. Then he said to him:
Drink.اشرب
So he drank. Then he said to him:
Drink.اشرب
, and he said: "By Him who sent you with the truth, I find no way for it to enter." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took the remainder and drank it, may peace and blessings be upon him.
This indicates one of the signs of prophethy: seventy people drinking and quenching their thirst from a single cup, and then there remains a portion from which Abu Hurayrah drinks and says, "I find no way for it to enter," and then there remains a portion which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drinks, from a single cup. This is one of the great signs of Allah, the One who says to a thing, "Be," and it is (Glorified and Exalted is He).
