What is the ruling on one who dies persisting in minor shirk?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is one who dies persisting in minor shirk under the will of Allah?

Answer:
It appears that it is not forgiven for him except by one of two things: either by the preponderance of his good deeds, or by being punished to the extent of his shirk, like major sins. If he did not repent from it, he is under the will of Allah. But this is not included under the will [in the sense of being forgiven without condition]; because it is called shirk, it is serious. Either he is punished, or it is forgiven for him if his good deeds preponderate.
Q: What is the statement of Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah regarding this?
A: I do not know; I have not come across anything from him.
