The Shaykh’s conversation with a student regarding da'wah and individuals’ fanaticism toward scholars, and the story of a discussion with one of the fanatics of al-Suqaf.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The student : By Allah, yesterday, my Shaykh, something happened to me. A man came to me; I have a computer operator here at my brother Ali’s place. I had drawn attention to the fact that when a book is published—what do they say about the Shaykh?—I said, people do not understand the title of this thing, so I wrote what? "A Word of Truth about al-Albani."
Another student: I mean, in large letters.
The student : Large and bold letters, and they placed it between the booklets at the mosque entrance.

The Shaykh : Yes.
The student : So now I have a copy of it remaining in the shop. Yesterday, a man entered who is not one of the people who usually enter. He asked, "What is this? What is this book?" I immediately told them who it was: "What do they complain about the Shaykh?" But on the basis that I wanted to clarify things to them. So yesterday, a man with a beard shaved very short with a machine entered and said to me, "What is this book? I mean: 'A Word of Truth about al-Albani'?" I said to him, "This is the book: 'What do they complain about the Shaykh'?" And the man opened up: "My brother, Muslims do not do this; we are Muslims, and we are like this."

The Shaykh: Allah is the Greatest!!
The student : And I spoke, and he started speaking: "The Shaykh says, the Shaykh, look at what he wrote in the introduction to the 'Aqidah al-Tahawiyyah." I said to him, "In his entire life, this Shaykh has not started [an attack]; first look for who started it, then see what the Shaykh wrote."

The Shaykh: Yes.
The student : SoThe Shaykh : He does not start; the Shaykh does not start with anyone. The Shaykh speaks about what he believes, but if that person responds with a scientific response without insult, the Shaykh does not respond to him. And even though our Shaykh’s response was scientific and such, you are fanatics, you are like this. I see, I do not go with anyone, I am not going with anyone.

The Shaykh : What Allah willed!!
The student : I am upon the Book and the Sunnah. I said to him, "This is good for you, like me, praise be to Allah, upon the Book and the Sunnah, and we are like this." Naturally, he then cited evidence. I say, Subhan Allah, neither I nor he. He says, "The book that belongs to our brother 'Isa says: 'And she'..." Ah, I said to him, "She? Also, I saw this, he says, 'Ah, this is the scholar al-Suqaf.'" I said to him, "Yes?!!" When he said "the scholar al-Suqaf," my Shaykh, I was upset. I said to him, "This is a scholar? This? People, by Allah, I bear witness to Allah that you are a poor man who knows nothing. Do you know what he said? 'What is this violent style you treated me with?'" I said to him, "O man, you call this a scholar?!"

The Shaykh : Who told you that?
The student : He himself says: "Your style is violent."

The Shaykh : Yes.
The student : Because I stood up from the table and said to him, "This is a scholar?!"
Another student: Give him the magnifying glass, man, hehehe.
The student : By Allah, no, no. I said to the man, "My brother, in any case, this is my phone." And he said, "No, if you are going to be in this style and such." I said to him, "In any case, if Allah wills, I will be different, but when you come to call this other person a scholar?!"

The Shaykh: Allahu Akbar.
The student : This is something. I mean, my Shaykh, he has been in the Islamic arena gaining Prophetic knowledge for over sixty years. And when did you even know this person? When did you know him? He said to me, "Enough, do not make a mistake." I said to him, "In any case, it is simple. I do not want to give and take with you." So I showed him the cassettes of al-Suqaf, these young men who come to you, my Shaykh, and you discussed with them.

The Shaykh : Yes.
The student : I said to him, "Do you see these cassettes?" I said to him, "I want to introduce myself to you before anything else. I accompany the Shaykh, praise be to Allah, in his scholarly gatherings, even in some of his travels, and I consider myself a servant to the Shaykh." So the man was stunned. I said to him, "These are cassettes I recorded, and among them are cassettes, please listen to the knowledge. We do not want talk and such. I say, by Allah, I feel that you want the truth, but perhaps you are not able to know the truth. But I see that you are a man who loves the truth. So Subhan Allah, in the end, I gave him the phone and said to him, "Call and we will sit, you and I, if Allah wills, and we will clarify everything to you: how he cuts off words, how he truncates, and how he deceives people. Not everyone goes back to the references and reads this booklet and then concludes; he gets an idea about the Shaykh and the matter is over. I mean, students of knowledge, my Shaykh, now they should go back to the references, so there is no power or strength except in Allah."

The Shaykh: Allah is the Greatest!!
The student : Speaking of these, my Shaykh, naturally, you have been informed of the death of 'Abdullah al-Ghamari?

The Shaykh: Yes.
The student : Yesterday, one of our brothers whose name is: Latifi. Yesterday I mentioned to you, I have Khalid and so-and-so and Latifi.

The Shaykh: Yes.
The student : This is a master's thesis presenter regarding 'Abd al-Haqq al-Isbili and Ibn al-Qattan, or rather regarding Ibn al-Qattan and his methodology in hadith criticism in Tunisia.

The Shaykh: All right.
The student : So the mention of 'Abdullah and 'Abd al-'Aziz came up. So I told him, "It has reached me that 'Abd al-'Aziz has improved, I mean in 'aqidah." He said, "A lot." He said, "There is a young Tunisian Salafi named Abu 'Ali Taha Abu Samih."

The Shaykh : What do you want?
The student : A match, his match.

The Shaykh : It is his match.
The student : For the Salafi methodology and Salafi da'wah, and he authenticated some of the papers of the one named Abu 'Ali Taha Abu Samih. He said: "He visited 'Abd al-'Aziz al-Ghamari."
