Leaving work and turning to study

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: I wish to leave my job and turn to study. Is this a good thing? And is it possible for me to be admitted to the Islamic University to study and gain knowledge of the religion?

A: Turning to study and gaining knowledge of the religion is among the best of deeds. It may become obligatory if a Muslim has not been able to know the matters whose ignorance is not permissible to him, meaning the matters of his religion. In that case, seeking knowledge is obligatory so that he knows what Allah has made obligatory upon him and what He has forbidden, and so that he worships his Lord with understanding. It is authentically reported from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
He upon whom Allah intends to bestow goodness, He confers upon him an insight in religionمن يرد الله به خيرا يفقهه في الدين
Sahih Muslim 1037a
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
he who treads the path in search of knowledge, Allah would make that path easy, leading to Paradise for himمن سلك طريقا يلتمس فيه علما سهل الله له به طريقا إلى الجنة
Sahih Muslim 2699a
.
The Islamic University welcomes people like you if you have a qualification other than a diploma in industry. If you see fit to send a copy of your qualifications for review and to be informed, there is no harm in doing so. Be aware that a student at the university is given a cash stipend of 250 riyals for a student in the intermediate and secondary stages, and 300 riyals for a student in the university stage, along with the provision of furnished housing with what is necessary, and transportation from the university to the city and from the city to the university.
