Our role toward one who is negligent in prayer and secludes himself with a non-mahram woman
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
This message was received by the program from listener Abdul Salam Abdullah Muhammad from the Yemen Arab Republic, from the Taiz district. The message contains two questions: Brother Abdul Salam says in his first question: I have a paternal uncle who is separated from the family and has a shop next to mine. The mosque is close to us, and we hear the adhan together at all times, but he does not go to prayer and does not maintain family ties. On top of this, he secludes himself with a foreign woman who is a stranger to him, in a house other than his own. Islam calls for advice, as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: . I dislike his actions, and I dislike speaking to him or returning his greeting, knowing that he is my neighbor in the shop as I mentioned. Is there a sin on me for this? Please issue a ruling for us, may you be rewarded, and may Allah reward you with the best reward?
Answer: It is obligatory for you to give advice, as you have done. You advise him and guide him to good, and you warn him of Allah . You say to him: "O so-and-so! Fear Allah. You must perform the prayer in congregation. You hear the call to prayer, and the Messenger (peace be upon him) said:Bulugh al-Maram 2:308. A blind man came to him and said: . He was not granted a dispensation to leave the congregation, even though he was blind and had no guide to lead him. So what about the state of the seeing person who is in good health? You advise him and clarify to him what the Sunnah brought. Likewise, regarding his severing of family ties, you advise him about that. And regarding his seclusion with the non-mahram woman, you advise him and disapprove of it. If he persists in disobedience and stubbornness, then boycotting him is a right, and you are correct in boycotting him; because he has openly displayed sin, and whoever openly displays it and does not accept advice deserves to be boycotted. Yes.
Indeed, religion is advice

Whoever hears the call for prayer and and does not come (to the mosque for prayer), his prayer will not be accepted from him, unless he has a (legitimate) excuse.
من سمع النداء فلم يأت فلا صلاة له إلا من عذرO Messenger of Allah! I have no guide to lead me to the mosque. Do I have a dispensation to pray in my house? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: Do you hear the call to prayer? He said: Yes. He said: Then respond to it.
