Ruling on eating a permissible animal that has been nursed on the milk of a forbidden animal

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The question: The first message received was from the sender Yahya Hasan Afandi from northern Yemen, Bani Qays. He asks, saying: If there is a small lamb, known as a young lamb or otherwise, and its mother died after it was born, and it was fed on the milk of an animal whose meat is forbidden to eat, is it permissible to eat it or not? Please inform us; may Allah reward you.
Answer: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon the Messenger of Allah, upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance.
As for the answer: If a young lamb or any other permissible animal is fed on forbidden milk, such as the milk of a donkey or a dog or the like, it does not become forbidden thereby. Rather, it remains lawful, and its ruling is the ruling of the *jalalah* (an animal that has eaten impure food). It is fed pure food and given pure drink for a period of time in which it is likely that it has become clean and pure, and that is sufficient. Some scholars said: three days, and some said: seven days. In any case, its owners should give it pure milk or feed it pure fodder for seven days or more; for by this it becomes pure and the effects of the impure milk disappear, and there is no harm in that, and praise be to Allah. Like the *jalalah*, it is held for one day if it is a chicken, or three days if it is a chicken or the like, or seven days or more in the case of an animal like a sheep or the like, and it is fed pure food, and praise be to Allah, and that is sufficient. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you.
