Ruling on eating animals that consume blood

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Your Eminence, Shaykh Abdul Aziz ibn Abdullah ibn Baz (may Allah preserve him)! Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings. And after that:
I am an Egyptian listener to your noble program, and I would like to pose the following question to Your Eminence: Blood is added to the feed consumed by white chickens. Is this chicken permissible to eat, or is it forbidden? It has been mentioned in books of jurisprudence that animals and birds that feed on filth until their odor changes are called *jilalah*. They are considered impure. If they are confined and fed natural food until the bad odor disappears, the name *jilalah* is removed from them, and they are no longer considered impure?
The question: Does blood fall within what can be called filth, or not? May Allah reward you with good. Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings. Abdur-Rabb al-Nabi Ahmad Jaber.

Answer:
Yes, if the bird, such as the chicken and its like, or other livestock like sheep, cattle, and camels, feed on impurities, they are called *jilalah*; if that predominates in them. However, if it is a small amount of blood or other impurity, and what predominates in them is good food, then they are not called *jilalah*, and it does not harm them, and there is no harm in eating them. So, if what is put in their feed is a small amount of blood, it does not harm. If good food and good things predominate in them, they are not considered *jilalah* and are not considered impure. If filth from impurities or blood predominates in them, they are confined for an appropriate period, fed good food, and then they become pure.
And if the chicken is confined for three days, that is sufficient, as Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used to do that . And if the sheep is confined for more than that, such as seven days or more, and the cow likewise for seven days or more, and fed good food, the ruling of filth is removed. And success is from Allah. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
