Our Position Regarding the Worship of Graves

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
It appears from the brother's words in his letter that there are people who take care of the mosque and accept this shrine, as he says, and make vows to it. When we advise them, they say about us that we are atheists and disbelievers, and that we will be afflicted with evil and ailments, even though we advise them to turn to Allah and abandon the belief in this shrine. We may not have the ability to remove the shrine or demolish the mosque, so what should we do? May Allah reward you.
Answer: You must forbid what is wrong, just as you have done. You must make it clear to them that this is wrong, and that supplicating to the dead, calling for aid from the dead, and making vows to them, all of this is shirk (associating partners with Allah), which is greater than building the mosque. The fact that they supplicate to him, call for his aid, and make vows to him is among the major sins of shirk. This is worship of other than Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He).
This contradicts the statement: "There is no god but Allah," for there is no true object of worship except Allah. He is the One who is supplicated to and from whom hope is sought (Glorified and Exalted is He). As for making vows to the dead, supplicating to them, or calling for aid from them, or from trees, or from stones, or from idols, or from the prophets, all of this is major shirk.
Therefore, one must beware of this, and one must oppose them for the sake of Allah, and make it clear to them that this is an error and that this is wrong and shirk, so that they may be guided, if Allah wills, through your efforts; because the truth is clear.
So you must warn them in a good manner, with good words and gentleness, and make it clear to them that this action is wrong and shirk with Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and that it is obligatory to move away from it to another sound mosque. As long as this mosque has not been demolished, one should move away from it to another piece of land where a mosque is built and prayers are performed in it.
As for this one, if Allah guides them and they demolish it, then it is obligatory for them to demolish it, and the grave remains like other graves. And if the grave is the last one, then the grave is dug up, and its remains are moved to the public cemetery in a special pit, and its surface is leveled like other graves, as mentioned previously. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you.
