Ruling on feeding an elderly person during the daytime of Ramadan

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Finally, this questioner says: On the first day of the blessed month of Ramadan, an elderly woman visited me. She is approximately one hundred years old. Sometimes she is aware, and sometimes the opposite. She asked me to bring her coffee, so I did and brought her the coffee. Do I have a sin for this, considering that I informed her that we are in the month of Ramadan? Please advise us, may Allah reward you.
Answer: If it appears that her mind is lost and that she has entered into confusion and senility, there is no harm; because fasting is not obligatory upon her. The presence of some mental clarity with her, where she says controlled things like "I want such and such" or "give me such and such," indicates that she has reason. However, the general rule for one who reaches one hundred years of age is that confusion and change enter them. So, if it appears to you from her condition that her mind is lost and she is not in control, there is no harm if she eats and drinks. But if it appears to you that her mind is with her and she is being lax, do not give her coffee or anything else; do not assist her in falsehood. Allah says:
And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression.وَتَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَى وَلا تَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ
[Al-Ma'idah: 2]. So, the one who asks for food in Ramadan while being sound among the Muslims is not given food, drink, or smoke; he is not assisted in falsehood. As for the one who has lost his mind, such as the insane, the mad, the senile man, and the senile woman, there is no sin upon them; fasting has passed them by. And Allah is the Helper.
The presenter: May Allah reward you.
