Ruling on the recitation of the Qur'an by a menstruating woman, a woman with post-natal bleeding, and one in a state of major ritual impurity

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Your Eminence! From what I have memorized from you, may Allah preserve you, is that a Muslim woman does not leave off the recitation of the Qur'an during the periods of menstruation and post-natal bleeding. Do you recall this statement to our sister?
Answer: This is a matter of scholarly disagreement among the scholars: does the menstruating woman and the woman with post-natal bleeding recite or not? The stronger position is that she recites from memory; because she may forget it and the period is long. Some scholars said: she is not allowed to recite unless she fears forgetting; if she fears it, she is allowed to recite, otherwise she is not. The stronger and closer position is that she is allowed to recite from memory, and she is allowed to review the mushaf from behind gloves, from behind a barrier, meaning when necessary. This is the stronger position due to the lack of evidence for prohibition.
As for the hadith that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The menstruating woman does not recite - nor the Junub - anything from the Qur'an.لا تقرأ الحائض ولا الجنب شيئاً من القرآن
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 131Da'if (Darussalam)
, it is a weak hadith regarding the menstruating woman. As for the one in a state of major ritual impurity, it is established from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he
He used not to recite if he was in a state of major ritual impurity; nothing used to prevent him from the Qur'an except major ritual impurityكان لا يقرأ إذا كان جنب، كان لا يمنعه من القرآن شيء إلا الجنابة
(peace and blessings be upon him), and it is not recorded in any of the hadiths that he prohibited the menstruating woman or the woman with post-natal bleeding from recitation. Analogizing them to the one in a state of major ritual impurity is not valid; because the duration of major ritual impurity is short, he takes a bath and recites. As for the menstruating woman, her duration is long, a week or more, and the woman with post-natal bleeding has a long duration, even longer. This may cause the forgetting of what she has memorized, and it may also cause hardness of the heart. So her reciting and reflecting on the Qur'an from memory, and reviewing the mushaf when necessary, is better for her in her religion and her worldly life.
The presenter: May Allah bless you, may Allah preserve you. As you mentioned the decline in faith, if she fears a decline in herself from being cut off from the recitation of the Qur'an, what is your guidance, may Allah preserve you?
The Shaykh: She strives, she strives to recite, and she struggles herself to recite and remember Allah as much as possible, as a form of striving. Allah says:
And those who strive for Us - We will surely guide them to Our waysوَالَّذِينَ جَاهَدُوا فِينَا لَنَهْدِيَنَّهُمْ سُبُلَنَا
[Al-'Ankabut: 69]. With striving, Allah helps her, Allah helps her.
The presenter: So with the fear of decline, this means it permits her to recite the Qur'an even if she is excused.
The Shaykh: ... But as mentioned before.
The presenter: Yes.
The Shaykh: As mentioned before, the detail is that the one in a state of major ritual impurity does not recite until he takes a bath, and she is allowed to recite. And if she fears forgetting, it is even more emphasized.
The presenter: May Allah bless you, may Allah reward you with good and do you good.
