The ruling on one who did not intend to fast Ramadan before dawn

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
With the beginning of this episode, we return to the listener’s message: Mahmoud Muhammad Khalil from the New Halfa in Sudan. Our brother says: “I was in the desert before the month of Ramadan entered, and its entry was announced while I was there, but I did not know. After I woke up from sleep, my friends came and informed me of the month’s entry. I told them that I had not eaten the pre-dawn meal and had not intended to fast. They said: ‘There is nothing on you.’ Knowing that I did not eat or drink anything, is there anything on me? Please advise us. May Allah reward you with good?”

Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance. As for what follows:
If the news reached you after dawn and you had not intended and did not know, then you must make up the fast. You are required to abstain from food and drink, and you must make up that day. This is just as if the legal proof reached the Muslims of the entry of the month during the day, in the late morning or at midday, with the legal proof being that the moon was seen the previous night; in that case, they fast the rest of the day and make up that day. So, the one for whom dawn broke while he did not know, and then he was informed after dawn that it was a day of fasting, and he fasted, he must make up that day, while it is obligatory for him to abstain. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
