The ruling on the fasting of one who does not pray except in Ramadan

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The listener Hasan Ali from Yemen sent a question, saying: What is the ruling on a man who fasts but does not pray except in the month of Ramadan? Is his fasting accepted?

Answer:
The correct view is that one who abandons prayer commits disbelief, even if he does not deny its obligation. This is the truth. So if he commits disbelief, he has no fasting and no Hajj until he repents to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). If he fasts while not praying, his fast is invalid, and his Hajj while not praying is invalid and does not suffice for him. This is based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Between a man and disbelief and shirk (associating partners with Allah) is the abandonment of prayer.بين الرجل وبين الكفر والشرك ترك الصلاة
, and his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
The covenant that distinguishes between us and them is prayer; so whoever leaves it, he has committed Kufr.العهد الذي بيننا وبينهم الصلاة فمن تركها فقد كفر
Sunan Ibn Majah 1079Sahih (Darussalam)
, and his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
The head of the matter is Islam, and its pillar is the Salatرأس الأمر الإسلام وعموده الصلاة
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2616Hasan (Darussalam)
. There are many hadiths in this chapter. We ask Allah for safety. Yes.

The presenter: O Allah, amen. May Allah reward you with good and do you good.
